2022-06-22 06:39:12 Equities were mixed in Asia on Wednesday amid warnings about the risk of an economic downturn.

Shares rose in Japan and Australia but fell in South Korea. The US futures declined after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 jumped over 2% on Tuesday.

As of 6:28 am, the Singapore-traded SGX Nifty -- an early barometer of India's benchmark Nifty 50 -- was 0.49% higher at 15,698.50 points.

Elsewhere, the yen hovered near 24-year lows against the dollar, due to the dichotomy that is the monetary policy of Bank of Japan and the US Federal Reserve. Crude oil retreated further below $110 a barrel. Bitcoin hovered around $20,000. Open / Comment

Good news is that even when trying to bring down inflation, US government is cutting fuel tax, this means they can change the policy very quickly and bring more liquidity if they find any major downside in growth.
Market likes this attitude and for Indian market already valuation is down, corporate results are up and there can be liquidity any time globally to support the market. Open / Comment
