Queimada Grande, Brazil

In the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, not far from Brazil, "floats" a charming green island, perfect for a vacation. If it weren't for its "locals," after whom the island is named Snake Island.

This is the only place where one of the most venomous snakes of our planet, the Botrops Island Snake, lives - its venom kills in seconds. Given the extinction of this species, the island was closed permanently in order to preserve the population of rare reptiles.

However, when imposing the ban, the authorities thought not only about the diverse "natives" inhabiting the island, but also about curious tourists. After all, a visit to this place can end up fatal - there is at least one snake per square meter!

According to legend, the reptiles were sent to the island by pirates to guard the treasure that they hid in the Keimada Grandi, but soon the "guards" became so numerous that it was impossible to enter the island. The treasure has not been found to this day.
