The Lost Treasures of Davis JeffersonLegend has it that during the American Civil War, when the Northerners had almost won, the Confederate government decided to hide the treasury of the Southerners so that it would not go to the victors. Confederate President Jefferson Davis himself took it upon himself to do so.
He left Richmond with his troops, taking a huge cargo of jewels, gold, and silver. However, no valuables were found after the Northerners took him prisoner. Davis did not give away the mystery of the disappearance of over four tons of gold dollars. Many people who have dealt with the matter believe that the jewels and gold were buried somewhere in Virginia.
Others argue that the valuables went to a secret society preparing for revenge in the war. To this day, numerous treasure hunters are still trying to find the Confederate treasure.
