Hunt for Covid Lab-Leak data: US Intel agencies HACK cloud servers containing Wuhan virus samples? (Report)
US Intel agencies are reportedly scouring through a treasure trove of genetic blueprints from samples being studied at the Wuhan Institute of Virology – hoping to unearth the origins of Covid-19. (CNN)
The sensitive data could have been hacked from computers connected to external cloud-based servers – adding that US agencies were utilizing supercomputers to try and decipher the mountain of information in Mandarin.
The US accused China in 2020 of removing 22,000 virus samples being studied at the Wuhan lab from the internet – with Beijing refusing to turn over the files and other raw data on early Covid cases to the WHO and America.
Despite the potential of new-found data, sources told CNN they do not expect to find a “smoking gun” as even were officials able to fill in the missing genetic link – it would not be enough to categorically prove the virus originated from the lab at Wuhan.
