2021-12-18 17:19:44 Difference between Fimbriae and Pili

The fimbriae differ from the pili in the following ways:

Pili are fine hair like microfibers having pilin – a thick tubular structure while the fimbriae are tiny bristle-like fibers emerging from the surface of the bacterial cells

Pili are longer than fimbriae
Occurrence of the fimbriae in each cell is about 200-400 while the occurrence of pili are lesser than one to ten every cell

Fimbriae are found in the both the gram negative and positive bacteria both, pili are present in the gram negative bacteria only

The fimbriae are composed of fibrillin protein while the pilin protein makes up the pili

The fimbriae are less rigid compared to the pili

The formation of fimbriae is administered by the bacterial genes in the nucleoid area while the pili is administered by the plasmid genes

Fimbriae plays a role in attaching cells to the surface while pili are critical in bacterial conjugation

One of our lungs is smaller than the other

Don't be alarmed though our body is far from symmetrical

The left lung is smaller than the right one, since it has the heart on its side. So it has to "give way" a bit for the main motor of the body.

The left lung even has a special heart notch. This is how the respiratory system takes care of the cardiovascular.

You knew this already right? If not then ponder it now.

2021-12-07 09:50:57 Classification of Plants

Classification of plants or its taxonomy primarily considers differentiation of plant body, tissues involved in the mechanism of transportation, and presence of seeds, among others. The divisions are---

Thallophyte: Includes microorganisms such as fungi, algae, and bacteria. In algae, the cell wall is composed of cellulose, and food is stored in the form of starch.

Bryophyta: These plants grow both on land and in water. Examples – Moss, Liver Warts etc.

Pteridophyte: Flowers and seeds are not present in these plants. Example – Ferns.

Gymnosperm: The seeds remain uncoated, and there is no ovary.

Angiosperm: The seeds are coated and developed within an ovary.

Monocot: In this type of angiosperms, only one cotyledon is present. Also, leaves are parallel-veined, and vascular bundles are scattered. The root system is adventitious. Examples – Wheat, Maize, Rice etc.

Dicot: There are two seed leaves present in dicot angiosperms. Vascular bundles are in a ring and veins are branched. Also, tap roots are present. Examples – Potato, Pea, Banyan etc.
