"We strongly condemn and sternly warn the US over spreading such anti-DPRK rhetoric," the statement added, telling the US to "keep its mouth shut”.
Washington has since rolled back its claims that Moscow was in the middle of a weapons deal, correcting it to a "potential purchase", and clarifying that there are "no indications" of a completed buy.
