Biden's "genocide" statement is not expected to cause immediate changes in U.S. policy
President Joe Biden's statement Tuesday that the atrocities taking place in
Ukraine constitute "genocide" wоnt cause any immediate change in
U.S. policy toward the conflict, say
U.S. officials.
Instead,
Biden's comment, which he says is inconsistent with an official legal statement, reflects his growing outrage at the scenes of brutality that occur when
Russian troops leave ravaged Ukrainian cities.
The comment was made before the
U.S. was expected to unveil its latest tranche of
military aid to Ukraine on Wednesday, a package that could total more than
$700 million and is expected to include armored vehicles, drones and other weapons.
