Maha govt stops PMC's drive to remove Ambil Odha shanties after locals protest

Maharashtra Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde directed the officials at Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to postpone the demolition of shanties alongside the Ambil Odha river near Dandekar bridge after the locals staged a protest against the drive. "The role of the government is...not to make anyone homeless," Shinde said. Nearly 130 houses were demolished in the anti-encroachment drive.
