In amusement parks such as New World and Great World, cabaret dancers like Rose Chan were notorious. However, while they may not have had respectable jobs, these women were generous to the less fortunate. They supported charitable causes and even helped set up the Happy Charity School which provided free education to poor children in Singapore.
