Potter Wasps get their name from the pot-shaped nests that they make using mud. These solitary wasps are an essential part of the ecosystem, helping to pollinate flowers and control caterpillar populations.

One of the more common species in Singapore is the Pear-tailed Potter Wasp (Delta pyriforme) pictured here! Well-adapted to urban and natural habitats, these shy creatures are relatively harmless when left alone and are more likely to flee than attack.
