One of the few marine spider species in the world, the Reef Sp | NParks Buzz

One of the few marine spider species in the world, the Reef Spider (Desis martensi) can be found amongst the intertidal coral reefs, in places such as Labrador Nature Reserve and the Southern Islands.

At high tide, this spider survives underwater by sealing holes in corals or rocks with silk to create air pockets. It comes out during low tide to feed on isopods (sea cockroaches) and amphipods (sandhoppers).
