Christmas may be long over, but the native Malayan Mistletoe (
Dendrophthoe pentandra) is still around!
This parasitic woody shrub can grow up to 2 metres on a host tree and bears attractive pink cylindrical flowers.
Though parasitic, it still plays an important role in the ecosystem as a caterpillar host plant for the Painted Jezebel (
Delias hyparete metarete) butterfly and as a food source for birds!
