The Common Putat (Barringtonia racemosa) is a native mangrove | NParks Buzz
The Common Putat (Barringtonia racemosa) is a native mangrove species that can grow up to 20 metres tall! Its hanging flowers have long filamentous stamens, making it look like powder-puffs.
As its other name ‘Fish-Poison Tree’ suggests, its bark, fruits, seeds and roots contain saponins and were used to poison and catch fish in the past.
