Happy Father's Day!
Unlike most birds, it is the males of the Greater Painted Snipe (
Rostratula benghalensis) that take on parental duties. The male incubates and raises the young, while the more brightly coloured female only lays eggs before reproducing with other males.
This rare Critically Endangered resident can be found in marshes and wetlands, such as Punggol, Seletar, Lim Chu Kang, Marina South, and Marina East.
