In 1789 John Adams became the first vice-president of the Unit | OLD BROTHER SHELTER
In 1789 John Adams became the first vice-president of the United States and for nine years proved himself in that role as a conservative politician.
The pinnacle of Adams' political career was in 1797, when he was elected president of the United States.
The period of his presidency was marked by crises and conflicts, such as the XYZ affair, the passage of the Alien and Sedition Acts (Adams did not support these measures), and confrontation with supporters of Thomas Jefferson. Adams became the first master of the White House built under him, then not yet bearing that name.
