This magazine’s name is Forbes.
It was founded in 1917 by Bertie Charles Forbes, a son of a Scottish tailor. After moving to the US, B.C. Forbes became a nationally-renowned business writer. He worked for several business magazines and ended up launching his own. Originally, his magazine was titled Doers and Doings. Later, it took the surname of its founding father.
Forbes boomed during the 1920s but was hardly hit by the Great Depression when its ad revenue fell by 80%. The magazine managed to survive due to the founder’s freelance earnings and loyalty of the employees who worked for free every 4th week of a month.
The motto of Forbes sounds like “Change the World”. Among other things, the magazine is famous for its lists, including “Forbes 400”, “Forbes 30 under 30”, etc. Though it still retains the name of its founder, since 2014, Forbes has belonged to Integrated Whale Media Investments, a Hong-Kong investment group.
