Christian is referring, of course, to the famous “going-out shirt.” And he is taking umbrage at the very notion of there being such a piece of clothing in the first place. “You shouldn’t
have a going-out shirt. A man's wardrobe should be versatile, from totally casual to formal, and everything in between.”
