How to prepare for the IELTS Speaking test at home? (Part 1)

• As we all know, as a result of spending relatively small amount of time on speaking, most students get stuck at 6.0 or 6.5. They usually find excuses, saying that their teacher doesn't teach them speaking or complain about not having a partner who's willing to speak with them 24/7. Having read this post, you'll probably learn some ways that help you improve your speaking without needing a partner.

1. Reading out loud. This is one of the most effective ways which I personally used when I was at Elementary level. You don't have to understand the text or learn new words (ofc, if you do, it's even better), but do this exercise at least for 30 minutes per day. Also, try to use word/sentence stress, intonation and enthusiasm.

2. Recording your voice. This may not be sth new for you. As you saw my private speaking channel, I used to answer the questions from Speaking Assistant app and send them to my channel. Record your answer until you're satisfied with it. Then, record, listen, record and listen again.

3. Shadowing/Imitating. This technique really helped me bring my Speaking to the next level. I imitated native speakers for 3-4 hours each day untill my mouth started aching. I would highly recommed to do this before doing speaking practice as it helps you warm up a little bit. In fact, before my speaking exam I imitated Matthew Mcconaughey for 2 hours which I think made me a lot more fluent and confident.

If you have your own idols, you can just search their names like (xx xx interview/speech and etc.) on YouTube.
