Task 2 #Sample.

In some societies, more and more people are deciding to live alone.

Why do you think this is? Do the advantages of living alone outweigh the disadvantages?

In many parts of the world, an increasing number of people are choosing to live on their own. This essay will explain the main reasons behind this trend. This essay will also argue why the drawbacks of living alone outweigh any potential benefits.

The growing popularity of living alone can be explained in two ways. Firstly, when a person decides to live on their own, it gives them more freedom to enjoy themselves to the fullest. This would not be possible while sharing accommodation with other people, as there will always be a need to take into account their preferences, such as where to place the TV, which channel to watch, and so forth. Another reason why people are choosing to live by themselves has to do with striving for independence. This is especially true with teenagers and young adults who want to move away from their families as soon as possible. Their motivation to feel mature and grown-up pushes them to at least try living independently.

However, people who decide to live alone have to deal with a number of serious problems. Lack of immediate support from family is the foremost of those issues. People who live on their own cannot expect to receive any form of help, whether financial or emotional, at short notice, making their lives more prone to instability. Another significant disadvantage is the sheer volume of chores that have to be done by one person. Normally, housework responsibilities are shared between family members or friends living together, which makes living much easier. In case of a person living alone, all of this extra workload can become a huge distracter, negatively impacting their work or studies.

In conclusion, the decision to live separately from friends and family stems from the need for greater freedom and independence. Personally, I do not believe that this trend is a positive one, as it creates more problems than opportunities.
