Half knowledge is more dangerous than ignorance, because an ignorant person will (hopefully) try to learn what he doesn't know, while a person with half knowledge thinks they know it all.

Learn Phrases You Can Use | #IELTS advice
Let's make one thing clear: not all the vocabulary of native speakers is useful for IELTS students. Here's a few quick examples.
1)
What gives? This phrase is used to ask the reason for something. (e.g.
You've been skipping classes since Monday. What gives?)
2)
Fire away. If someone wants to say or ask something, you can say ' fire away' to give them permission to speak. (e.g.
May I ask you something? — Sure. Fire away.)
3)
Come again. We say 'come again' to ask someone to repeat something. (e.g.
Malika said she loves you. — Come again!?)
Now, these are all great phrases to learn and use in your everyday speech. However, I hardly think you can use them in your speaking exam.
Hence make sure you learn vocabulary which you can actually you use for IELTS!
