At night, two Svetlozemie’s scouts made their way stealthily through the hills. They moved quickly and silently, like two shadows. Even the most sensitive sentinels would not be able to see them.

What awaits them in the Valley of the Seven Lakes? Judging by the glow spreading in low-hanging clouds over the hills, nothing good... What tidings will they bring to the Knyaz today? We’ll know shortly thereafter. They calculated: it remains to go around one hill on the left slope, where boulders were scattered. It is convenient to hide in their shadow so as not to get into the view of two watchtowers.

As they climbed higher, Zarya, the eldest of the scouts, made a sign to Deyan, so that he carefully looked at the nearest tower.
