Broadening into the UK market is the first territorial expansion of the company’s service outside of the US, and news of the move has already caused the price of Bitcoin to rise two per cent over the past 24 hours. Ethereum, on the other hand, has already risen nearly six per cent.

PayPal touts that customers can begin owning cryptocurrencies for as little as £1 and without any additional fees - though in the world of crypto that’s generally the norm.

The company also says it provides customers with some basic “educational content” on cryptocurrencies, but just a few sentences later encourages users “do their research” before making any major purchasing decisions. Open / Comment

Longer-term Bitcoin holders have been taking some profit off the table over the past week as the balances of BTC held on exchanges start to level off.

In its week on-chain report this week, analytics provider Glassnode has delved into the spending habits of holders and investors.

It stated that the week has seen some minor profit realization on-chain by long-term holders, “although so far it does not appear to be of significant coin volume to put the brakes on.”

Bitcoin Price Gaining 15% In a Few Days

This was a very turbulent week for bitcoin’s price, which didn’t seem like it was off to a good start a few days ago.

In fact, on Tuesday, the price plummeted down to around $29,200, causing nothing but fear and panic in the market. Fortunately, it didn’t take much for the price to reverse.

On Wednesday, the highly-anticipated B Word event took place, and it saw Elon Musk, Jack Dorsey, and Cathie Wood discuss bitcoin. All of them spoke fondly of the asset. Musk revealed that he owns BTC, ETH, and some DOGE, while also saying that Tesla would resume accepting it at some point.

This catalyzed a recovery rally, which is now taking the price of bitcoin towards $34K. At the time of this writing, BTC is trading at $33,700, up more than 15% from Tuesday’s lows.
