A bit of good news for the people of Bathgate. The council had planned to house 81 men from Africa and the Middle East in the Cairn Hotel. Now the Home Office have informed the council that the hotel will not be housing any refugees.
It appears that the council announcement was made before anyone had actually talked to the hotel owners and confirmed it could be used. The hotel, it appears, was not keen in taking this form of client as it said it would have a detrimental effect on the hotel's reputation.
Dumping these young single men in the centre of small Scottish towns has a detrimental effect not just on the hotels used but also on the towns themselves, bringing many social issues to the area connected to the young men.
The SNP and other political parties are determined to turn Scotland into a dumping ground for refugees from the Third World. It is good to see their plans being blocked, and hopefully many other hotels will refuse to be used for this purpose in the future.
