ISLAMABAD: The coalition government of PM Shehbaz Sharif has decided to put
Pres. Dr Arif Alvi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chair. Imran Khan, former National Assembly dep. speaker Qasim Khan Suri & Punjab Governor Omer Sarfraz Cheema on trial for treason on charges of violating the Constitution.
The PTI leaders face the death penalty if convicted of charges over their alleged subversion of the Constitution.
According to a report, interior and law ministries, headed by Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are
preparing a reference under Article 6 of the Constitution against the key leaders of the opposition PTI party.
