My first proper trading set up! This was one of the best investments I ever made. It played a key role in the acceleration of my trading career.
Contrary to what some may think, having 4 screens didn’t make me a better trader because of faster execution, the ability to look at multiple charts, up to date news or anything of the like...
...it made me a better trader because I looked forward to going to the desk every morning! It created the perfect work environment for me to enjoy sitting there for hours on end.
(Funny how I was still a student at the time but not a single one of those screens had a lecture video on )
Jokes aside; take pride in your workspace! Do whatever you can to make it a place that you look forward to spend your entire day in front of

My biggest withdrawal in 2017
One thing that I really appreciate about my upbringing is the fact that delayed gratification was instilled in me from an early age and it allowed me to continue to grow my trading account instead of withdrawing to spend the small profits. If I had, I wouldn’t have grown the account to the point where I could withdraw R70,000 without depleting my capital so much that I had to reduce my position size because I still had a few hundred thousand in the account.
Moral of the story: Don’t rush to spend your profits. Take your time and use them as an asset to build up bigger profits. You’ll be amazed at what the power of compounding will do for you.
