Riba (interest money) There is a Day when the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake and it shall be cleaved; the mountain will be powdered to dust, so that they will become floating dust particles or like carded wool; and Allah will resurrect everyone (Jinns, humans and animals) for reckoning. People shall be raised differently (in different ways, shapes and forms) depending on what they left this world on (i.e. upon the deed or lifestyle they died). Allah says (regarding those who consume Riba i.e. usury or interest in Surah Al-Baqarah [2] verse 275): * “Those who eat Riba will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaytan leading him to insanity…”* More so, those who imitate (or follow) a people will be raised with them. So, don’t imitate the non-Muslims! It’s such an evil thing to disbelieve in the Fixed and Promised Day. Why do some think it’s not true? They believe in death (that it’s certain) but difficult for them to believe in resurrection and afterlife (for accountability). Nay, they will come to know. This world will be as if it was a dream and the reality (of Resurrection, Judgment, Hell and Paradise) will certainly become known and clear to everyone. And there can be no denying of its befalling. On this Day, everyone will remember (the Warnings of Allah). But, of what benefit or how will the remembrance (then) avail the criminals? On this Day, everyone will have enough to make him careless of others. No one will care for anything other than his reckoning. O Mankind! The Day of Decision is certain. We need to believe and start preparing for it right now. There is no delaying because tomorrow may be late. I beseech Allah to grant us more understanding, increase us in faith, make us do more good deeds before death, forgive and erase our bad deeds, grant us an easy death, resurrect us upon good, and grant us eternal bliss.
