Watch: Homeowner captures moment a light plane crashes into trees outside her house after it failed to gain altitude when taking off from Banks Airport in Maine.
The crash occurred on Swan's Island near Bar Harbor on Thursday evening just before 6 pm. Incredibly, the pilot, who was the only person who was on board, sustained only minor injuries, according to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.
In the moments before the crash, the Cessna 150 narrowly missed a low-hanging powerline before finally plowing into a bank of trees. The FAA said the National Transportation Safety Board is now leading the investigation into the accident.
