2023-04-29 22:10:01 North Carolina: Double homicide investigation underway after Fayetteville police officer and wife found dead inside their home, according to Fayetteville Police Chief Kemberle Braden.

Officers found the bodies of Fayetteville Police Officer Domingo Tavarez-Rodriguez and his wife Yenitza Arroyo Torres at their home on 1323 Vandenberg Drive.

The officers went to the scene to check on Tavarez-Rodriguez after he failed to report for duty. He was supposed to work at 6 p.m.

In a Friday night press conference, Police Chief Kemberle Braden said both were found with apparent gunshot wounds.

Chief Braden says due to Tavarez-Rodriguez being an active police officer, the State Bureau of Investigation was requested and this incident will be a criminal investigation.

From our humble beginnings in 1850, the department functioned with minimal personnel consisting of the elected Sheriff, one Deputy Sheriff, and one Jailer. 

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was responsible for law enforcement from as far North as Santa Barbara to as far South as San Diego. 

At the time, the official Sheriff’s Office was not in any type of official building, rather the Sheriff’s Office operated out of a single room located at the Bella Union Hotel. Which today would be located near Main and Temple streets of downtown Los Angeles.

The L.A. County Jail was nothing more than a small adobe building which sat atop Fort Moore Hill.

The first decade of the Sheriff’s Department were some of the most turbulent times in department history.

Florida: A police sergeant with the Golden Beach Police Department was injured after being shot early Saturday during a pursuit of suspects in a stolen vehicle, officials said.

Two suspects were arrested following the incident, which began in Golden Beach but ended up in Hollywood, police said during a Saturday morning news conference.

The officer, who was not identified, was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

2023-04-29 20:41:11 NEW: 11 people injured in shooting at Meadowlake Park in Columbia, South Carolina.

Up to NINE people were shot overnight ranging in ages from 16 - 20-years-old and at least two others hurt in Richland County South Carolina.

Richland County Sheriff's Department said it happened at Meadowlake Park in Columbia. RCSO is actively investigating the shooting. The conditions of the victims haven’t been released.

RCSO said it was a party involving students from various area high schools.
