"So you're the best." Heard half of myself halfheartedly taking pride of me. Also heard that enthusiastically from colleagues, peers, and mostly, relatives.
This now and then same scene.
Of which other half of me responds, "Not even close." Why ...
Why?
My eyes wonder. Wander. All these loud cheering is nonsense to the nonchalant. At last look around, you sort of took over the place. The numbing silence had me convinced you are not among the crowd. Like I'm just winded up to places I don't belong. Been here so long I'm still a rookie.
