$680 million were reported in 2021, while in the first quarter of 2022, the losses amounted to $329 million.
People aged 20-49 appeared more likely to lose crypto to a scammer, with those in their 30s being hit the hardest.
The average individual loss is $2,600. Interestingly, the average losses increase with age, topping out at $11,708 for people in their 70s.

Mostly, it started with “an ad, post, or message on a social media platform.” The top platforms reported by investors were:
