"Cryptocurrencies are reportedly being increasingly used to finance white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups. Earlier this year, a French donor paid more than $500,000 in Bitcoin to 'far-right activists and Internet personalities.' Per WIRED, Steven Stalinksy [sic], executive director of US-based terrorism threat monitor Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), said that these groups are 'following in the footsteps of jihadis.'"

With some experts predicting it will reach projected highs of $500k USD this decade, Bitcoin is under an increasing level of scrutiny by the System. If any transaction can be linked to a criminal (including any known political dissident), every transaction connected to it is tarnished.

As more people continue to get penalized for donations they received from unapproved persons, or from inadvertently buying "dirty" coins, many will turn to privacy-focused alternatives such as Monero that are trusted by those who need it to work the most. While Bitcoin is certainly the most valuable crypto-currency today, it's more of a store of wealth than a true currency. I predict the daily number of Monero transactions will soar as more regulations surrounding crypto emerges.
