I agree with the general sentiment expressed here. It's not 'based' or anything like that; it is a fact of life, in this case, death. It would also apply mostly to men - especially in the West and Japan, considering the messenger. We know what our noble cause is and what we're willing to die for; there isn't a foundation there that would make our sacrifices worth it in the long run - yet.
