Some people say that History is one of the most important school subject. Other people think that, in today’s world, subject like Science and Technology are more important than History.
Discuss both these views and give own opinion.

Education, school curriculum in particular, has been the subject of harsh discussion for quite a long time now. To be more specific, some find History an essential subject to teach while there is an opposing viewpoint which claims that Science and Technology are of more importance in the age of technology we are living now. Notwithstanding the academic significance of History, I believe exact subjects and IT spheres are more important in humanity’s attempts to thrive for a better future.

To begin with, academic significance of teaching history is huge, especially while teaching youngsters how their country has evolved over the course of history. History helps people to understand what steps, whether it be faulty like unnecessary wars or righteous such as abolition of slavery, our ancestors took. This in turn helps school children to understand who they really are and to draw personal conclusions of what is right and what is wrong. Besides this, history could also help governments to develop patriotism, a sense of an utmost importance for any country with high perspectives. For example, schools in China are specialized to teach pupils ‘the great history of China’, and therefore strengthening the love towards the country.

On the other hand, today children are obliged to learn IT and exact subjects, for the world is changing exceptionally fast. Governments are well aware this; hence schools are now more centered to teaching IT spheres and exact sciences such as math, physics, chemistry …etc. It is undoubtedly these subjects that are going to take us to the next level of evolution. The world needs help by specialists who are capable of finding innovative solutions we are facing now – global warming, overpopulation, food scarcity and so on. These problems could only be tackled by original solutions provided by people who mastered Science and Technology. Therefore, I am a firm believer that schools ought to pay more attention to these subjects since we almost destroyed our world with conventional methods; we now need new ways that can only be possible if schools generated more specialists.

In conclusion, History is indeed a vital subject to bring up an open-minded, righteous and patriotic generation. However, now is the time to look ahead and try to solve current problems, and this can be done by paying more attention to exact subjects and information technology.
