Twitter launches anti-takeover protection plan after $43 billion offer from Ilon Musk
According to the announcement, the social network's board of directors unanimously adopted a plan to protect shareholder rights with a limited duration - the plan has a term called the "poison pill."
The plan will remain in effect until April 14, 2023, but nevertheless, it "will not prevent Twitter's board of directors from engaging with parties or accepting acquisition proposals if the board deems it in the best interests of Twitter and its shareholders," according to a statement from a social network spokesperson.
