Historical record exists well before the time Olof Skötkonung ruled both the Swedes and the Geats around 995 but let's make it simple, so an even 1000 it is.

June 6 is a bit .... arbitrary. If we had leaders that loved the nation they would move our national day to June 21st, Midsummer. It's basically already so. That's when Swedes are the most proud of being Swedes and almost every Swede celebrates the land they love.
