For many people, such arrangements had become the new normal after over a year and a half. Others, including many top executives, saw it as an exception. The CEOs of financial heavyweights like JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs all lobbied for staff to get off their couches and get back into their cubicles.
Evidence shows that the desire to return to work is becoming more of an exception rather than the rule. Although the rise in the Delta variation makes people more hesitant to return to in-person employment and school, companies are pressing forward with plans to rehire workers.
