The last thing to which I thought I would wake up today would be to a political smear brochure being circulated to my fellow South Carolinians in the Charleston area and beyond.
A political dispute in which I have never had or played any role.
A repeat and embellishment of lies and smears from the past coupled with a set of new and vicious lies. Many made up out of whole cloth.
When you try your imperfect best to do God’s will for your life, it hurts to be described as a “slimy” character in the midst of 4 pages of lies related to a SC political dispute of which I know nothing.
I cannot imagine manufacturing and spreading vicious lies about another person or describing another person in such demeaning, untrue terms.
Almost 4 years of non-stop false accusations and smears against me since late 2019 by a variety of individuals and organizations.
But liars are going to lie; deceivers are going to deceive; and haters are going to hate.
My response to them today???
I prayed for them and responded with TRUTH. I took some time to reflect on the many GOOD memories I have from my brief foray into politics in 2021. The wonderful REAL Patriots that I met as I traveled around South Carolina. The feelings and words of patriotism we shared together.
I reflected on the trials and tribulations suffered by Richard Jewell as the result of lies and smears.
I reflected on the trials and tribulations being suffered by President Trump as the result of lies and smears.
If the enemy will engage in false attacks against a REAL hero and a REAL President, who am I to complain??? The false attacks against Richard and President Trump are far worse than today’s false attacks against me.
I am not a hero. I am not the President.
I am just an innkeeper in Yemassee, SC.
So what now???
The spirit inside me tells me to move forward and press on.
So I will press on.
