So I was DDing last night in Ocean City, and after I dropped everyone off I got pulled over for going 10mph over the limit. The officer said I was driving straight and everything but he smelled alcohol on my breath. I only had 4 beers in the course of 6 hours so I wasn’t drunk at all. I was having a very coherent conversation but he still went ahead and made me do the walking test and eye test. I passed both easily. Then he said to say the alphabet but start at letter H so I was going through the alphabet in my head and he said I was taking too long so he threw me in cuffs. He then asked if I wanted to take a breathalyzer but I obviously said no

Long story short I spent the fucking night in a jail cell until 11am this morning and then got let out. I’m going to have a court date in 3 months to fight this so I need some advice/suggestions. They’re charging me with a DUI, DWI, and speeding. I don’t have money for an attorney so is it okay to go the public defender route?
