Niantic has announced via the Wayfarer forums that a series of location edits will be taking place to approximately 15k waypoints to more accurately reflect their real world location. This could potentially remove waypoints from games. Also, remember that when a portal in Ingress is moved, all links to or from that portal are dropped. Those waypoints will be locked from future location edits.
