Russia in the Arctic Council - 2021-2023: Concept and Roadmap
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved the concept of Russia's chairmanship in the Arctic Council. It is aimed at promoting balanced development of the Arctic region.
There are four priority directions that Russia intends to develop during its chairmanship in the Arctic Council in 2021-2023:
population of the Arctic, including indigenous minorities of the North;
protection of the Arctic environment, including climate change;
social and economic development of the region;
strengthening the role of the Arctic Council as the main platform for multilateral cooperation in the high latitudes.
Russia intends to work in close collaboration with the countries participating in the intergovernmental Arctic forum.
