Progress in Russia's chairmanship in the Arctic Council in 2021–2023 was discussed at an interagency meeting

In May 2021, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin approved the Concept of the presidency and a detailed plan of events. At the moment, the architecture of the programme and a list of measures to ensure a high level of hospitality are under consideration, the amount of funding for the events has already been determined.

The chairmanship plan includes 116 events in 11 regions of Russia - all of them aimed at developing the Arctic as a territory of dialogue and peaceful cooperation. The events will be devoted to the discussion of climate change and the ecology of the Arctic, indigenous peoples, prevention of emergencies, infrastructure development and sustainable shipping, economic cooperation, international scientific cooperation, youth, Arctic tourism, cultural events.

Among them:

June 29–30 - the first meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Arctic Council in Yakutia
17-18 July - Arctic festival "Teriberka" in the Murmansk region.
