North Korea Holds Potential for More NUKES than Previously Thought (Report)

Analysis of new satellite imagery reportedly indicates Pyongyang is only using a fraction of its potential fissile material, suggesting the DPRK has uranium base ingredients to accelerate nuclear bomb production. (WSJ)

Stanford University's Center for Intl Security and Cooperation has made the claim based on equipment and facility images from about 30 miles north from the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Researchers tracked deforestation and mining activity from 2017-2020, using an algorithm to detect land-use changes.

The findings, if true, could mean that Kim Jong Un is already happy with the current proliferation levels OR that bottlenecks exist further down the development line. "It's using 1/10th or 1/20th of capacity," a research fellow at Stanford said. " The question is why."
