Liquid marble?
Two statues from the Museum of Archaeology (Naples). Apollo and Barbarian from the ancient Roman era. The statues are not painted, but made of marble in different colors. If you look closely, there are no traces of joints and machining (as on the sculptures of Michelangelo), perfect gloss of polishing, such an effect can only be achieved by machine methods. Perhaps ancient masters knew the secret of casting or liquid marble? And then the hypothesis that the statues were cast from casts of living models would be correct.
