Hohenzollern Castle "Castle in the clouds" - this is how the German castle Hohenzollern is called because of its location. The castle is located high in the mountains, and therefore it seems as if its top reaches into the sky.
The modern Hohenzollern is already the third castle. The first was completely destroyed during the war in the 15th century. A few years later at the same place was built the second castle, which lasted until the end of the 18th century. Today only the Chapel of St. Michael has remained of it. In the mid-19th century the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm IV had a third Hohenzollern built, on which the best architects and artists of the time worked.
