There used to be bigger lizards, taller trees, and cleaner air. Literally. But, if there were giant trees and fossilized leaves the size of a good paraglider are preserved from them, then where are the stumps?
Much suspicion is aroused by such pole-mountains. For example, entire petrified forests are found in China and the United States, which is not surprising, given the ability of trees to accumulate metals or grow minerals inside themselves. So what prevented ancient giants from becoming petrified? Especially since most of these stone "stumps" are in the Americas, where the tallest trees on the planet still grow.
