You think, 'I must buy the latest model.' Somehow you borrow money from the bank, or your money market fund, and now the car is in front of your house. You are happy, aren’t you? You must be happy. Your wife is happy, your children are happy, your friends are happy. The person who sold it is happy to get rid of the car. And you are happy to have it. Now where is the happiness? This desire was troubling you: 'I want a car.' With the car, the desire has left you. With the car there is no more desire for a car, and this has given you happiness. As with all desires, you are happy when the desire has vanished, not when the thing has come."
