-LEON PERERA-
As a parent, I know fully the importance of having adequate living space for our children. It can potentially affect their comfort, sense of security, propensity to engage in risk behaviours and personal growth. Our children also should not live in small spaces that accentuate family stress or discourage learning.
Some of my constituents who live in smaller or rental flats have shared these tough experiences, especially during the circuit breaker period. But it is important that we grasp that there is an underlying issue we need to keep track of and improve upon.
In Parliament, I asked about the number of children living in 1- and 2-room rental flats; and the number of occupants children share such small rental flats with. The figures are sizeable, and I will continue to speak on this issue.
