In the last sitting I asked questions on Post Partum care and Paternal Post Natal Depression (PPND).
The post partum period is one that I find most challenging, as you’re still recovering from pregnancy and birth, sometimes surgery. Many families shared with me that COVID has made this period even more difficult as they didn’t have access to services such as confinement nannies.
Another issue that is rarely spoken about is PPND. I think it’s worrying that men do not receive as much mental health support, either due to the stigma they face about getting help or that mental health services are not sufficient.
I feel that more can be done to support families in the first year of children’s lives, and the first step is to ensure that parents are healthy and happy.
