9 HDB blocks in Marsiling will be acquired, to facilitate the expansion of Woodlands Checkpoint. The HDB shared that the affected flat owners will be offered the same benefits as that of SERS, but more importantly, I think it’s also quite clear why these flats have to be ‘en-bloc’ – the checkpoints are just too crowded!
The selection of 4 specific HDB blocks in AMK Ave 3 for SERS back in April, however, was not that straightforward. Sure, we already know from the press release that the factors used to choose precincts for SERS include: the precincts’ redevelopment potential, the availability of suitable replacement sites and the Government’s financial resources.
And that only about 5% of all HDB flats are suitable for redevelopment, but most have already been selected.
However, what are the weightages of the factors used, the process to determine the timing of SERS, and just how many more flats would qualify?
