Thankful Tuesday
He Chose You

Genesis 45:3-5

Joseph’s history is an interesting one. He was loved by his father but hated by his brothers. Does that sound familiar, our heavenly father loves us with an everlasting love, but we have brothers and sisters that hate us. This hate that his brothers had for him manifested into an evil act. They sold their own brother to the Egyptians. Have you ever been sold out by those you loved or betrayed by those you trusted? This is exactly what happened to Joseph. Little did he know that God was working on him. Joseph knew of the God of his father, but he did not have a personal relationship with God. As you read this, you might be reminiscing of the time when you heard about God spoken of by your grandparents or maybe even your parents, but you never really had a personal relationship with God. Maybe you are a person who had a relationship with God, but as life got in the way, you became distant and separated from Him, and now, He is just a familiar memory like a long pass ex. You might be that person who has a relationship with God, but how close are you? Are you ready to take your relationship to the next level? How well do you really know Jesus?
After all that Joseph had been through, anyone would agree that it would have been fair for Joseph to get revenge on his brothers. But the bible says that Joseph said be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.
Last year has really put a hurting on us, it was supposed to be the year of clear vision, it was supposed to be the year that we get things together, we trusted that last year was going to be a great year. But the opposite is true, last year sold us to a deadly virus, last year sold us to job loss, last year sold us to fearing the future, and last year sold us to burying loved ones. And now that we are in Egypt, we need to have a personal relationship with God, He cannot be the God of our grandparents or the God of our parents, or be treated like some long pass ex, Jesus needs to be your personal Lord and savior. And you need to see how God is working on you.
God’s providence is in the particular situation that you are going through right now, He chose you for this particular season. Out of all of Joseph's brothers, He chose Joseph to go to Egypt. You might feel unprepared and doubtful of what is ahead of you as Joseph did. But there are two things I want you to consider. Number one, God is trying to get closer to you. And number two, God is going to bless someone through you.
The Bible says that in all things God works for the good of those who love him. Romans 8:28. Joseph’s brothers sold him to Egypt because of hate, but God sent him to Egypt because of love. In Egypt God went from being Joseph's father's God to Joseph's God. Joseph believed that the God of his father would be his God. He then and there gave himself fully to the Lord, and he prayed that the Keeper of Israel would be with him in the land of his exile. In Egypt Joseph developed a relationship with God that he would not have been able to develop at home. You are in your Egypt today so that you can develop a relationship with God, so that he can become your personal God, and so that you can get to know Jesus. What is your Egypt? Did you lose a job? Are you infected with COVID-19 and asking yourself why me, why now?
